An event was held in Ganja Medical College in connection with March 31 - Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis. At the meeting, which began with the playing of the national anthem, the spirit of National leader Heydar Aliyev, our citizens who died in the liberation of our lands and the genocide continued with a minute of silence. Then the director of the college, honored doctor Mehman Rzayev, who gave an introductory speech, spoke about the policy of massacres and genocide committed by the Armenian Dashnaks in the ancient lands of Azerbaijan since the beginning of the last century, referring to historical facts.
"Throughout history, the Armenian Dashnaks, who have carried out an aggressive policy, have not turned back from their bloody deeds, and have not given up the dream of creating a "great Armenia from sea to sea", have subjected our people to genocide from time to time. During the massacres of March 1918, Armenians brutally murdered 12 thousand of our compatriots in Baku in three days. In the following days, bloody tragedies were committed by Armenians in Baku and Ganja governorates, Guba, Khachmaz, Shamakhi, Lankaran, Mughan districts and other regions. During the events of March, a large number of our cities and villages, including more than 150 villages inhabited by Azerbaijanis in the territory of Karabakh, were turned into ruins, and unprecedented massacres were committed in Shusha. More than 50,000 of our compatriots, including 30,000 Azerbaijanis in Baku, were killed, and mosques and schools were burned and destroyed. Only 115 villages in Zangezur and 211 villages in Iravan governorate were destroyed, and their inhabitants were killed with unprecedented cruelty. This is a history, a history that cannot be forgotten or erased. The generations before us, we and the generations after us will not forget this bloody history," added the director of the college.
M. Rzayev emphasized that after the great leader Heydar Aliyev's return to power, a principled approach to this issue was demonstrated, the essence of the genocide and deportation policy carried out by Armenian nationalists against our people for years was fully disclosed and exposed. With the decree of national leader Heydar Aliyev "On the Genocide of Azerbaijanis" dated March 26, 1998, a legal and political evaluation was given to the serious crimes committed against our people. Today, under the leadership of President Mr. Ilham Aliyev, consistent and purposeful work is being done in the direction of eliminating the consequences of Armenian aggression, ensuring the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our republic, recognizing and defending the fair position of our country by the leading world states and influential international circles.
Then the speakers emphasized that only in the last century, the Azerbaijani people were violated by Armenian nationalists four times - in 1905-1907, 1918-1920, 1948-1953, 1988-1993 was subjected to genocide and deportation. Recently, the facts revealing the mass murders committed by Armenians during the events of 1918 in Guba have been revealed. Countless human bones found are visual evidence confirming Armenian vandalism during these massacres. The Guba Genocide Memorial Complex was established in this area as proof of the killing of tens of thousands of people and as a sign of respect to their memory. The Memorial Genocide Museum of the Azerbaijan Military Prosecutor's Office is also important in conveying the historical truths of Azerbaijan, the massacres carried out by Armenian nationalists against our people to the world community.
At the event, videos dedicated to March 31 – genocide of Azerbaijanis were shown, an artistic composition was shown with the participation of college students.
