Characteristics of the Graduate's Field of Specialization
The paramedic-laboratorian works as a paramedic-laboratorian in the laboratories of regional, urban and rural treatment and prevention institutions, as well as medical research institutes and specialized medical laboratories to perform all types of laboratory examinations.
A graduate of the "Laboratory diagnostics" department should know and be able to:
- Laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan and legal normative acts related to healthcare;
- Basic principles of medical ethics and deontology;
- The rights and duties of a medical worker in treatment and prevention institutions;
- Organization and structure of work in treatment and sanitary-prophylactic institutions;
- Organization of providing medical and medical social assistance to the population;
- Organization of sanitary-prophylactic regime in treatment-prevention institutions;
- Theoretical foundations of nursing work;
- The main drugs used in the treatment of widespread diseases;
- Compilation of medical documents;
- Sanitary education work;
- filling of laboratory documents and examination forms;
- Safety equipment rules;
- New laboratory examination methods;
- Internal and inter-laboratory quality control;
- Conducting anthropometric measurements;
- Provision of medical assistance in urgent situations;
- Counting the frequency of breathing movements, measuring the body temperature, counting the pulse, measuring the arterial pressure;
- Performing diagnostic and therapeutic manipulations (injections, enemas, parenteral nutrition, placing urinary catheters, etc.) based on the doctor's appointment;
- General principles of patient care;
- The procedure for working with infectious material, subject to compliance with preventive conditions;

- Taking stomach contents, 12-inch intestinal contents;

Qualifications
040709 A graduate of the "Laboratory diagnostics" department can work as a laboratory assistant in clinical, biochemical, bacteriological and serological laboratories according to the special level of preparation.
