"One of the most terrible problems in our society today is drug addiction. Unfortunately, drug addiction, considered one of the problems of the last century, remains one of the global problems in the 21st century. The history of drug addiction is very old. Even before BC, information about drugs containing drugs can be found in the works of Greek, Roman, and Arab scientists and doctors. In the mythology of the peoples settled in Europe and Asia, oil poppy is perceived as the spoil of people's pain and suffering, and the juice (opium) obtained from the poppy cone has always been used for medical purposes. In general, according to UN estimates, today around 250 million people in the world suffer from drugs in one form or another. This is approximately 5 percent of the world's population aged 15-64. Drug addiction is a disease that creates mental dependence on drug poisons. People with this disease isolate themselves from society. This changes their attitude towards the people around them. Such people can be found in every class of society. Drug addiction knows no borders, just like the geography of illegal drug trafficking. This terrible disease does not depend on religion, language, race, social status, etc. it's equally dangerous for everyone regardless." These views were expressed by the director of the institution, honored doctor Mehman Rzayev, at the "Let's say no to drug addiction" conference held at the Ganja Medical College of the Ministry of Health on the eve of the International Day against Drugs on June 26. He emphasized that a lot of work has been done in the field of fighting drug addiction in Azerbaijan, and every citizen should be active in the fight against this "white death".

Other doctors-teachers of the college who spoke, Sevda Huseynova, Lala Verdiyeva, Javahir Garayeva, spoke about the practical work carried out by our state in the direction of the fight against drug addiction. It was noted that further education of teenagers and young people in this field will significantly increase their resistance to drug addiction and the habits that spread it. Most importantly, this will play a decisive role for the healthy upbringing of both current and future generations in society.

At the end of the event, the film "Let's say no to drug addiction for the sake of a healthy future" was shown.
