
On 12.07.2019, Ganja Regional Women's Center Public Union, with the financial support of the State Support Council for NGOs under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, continues the activities of the project "Educational activities aimed at promoting family legislation and preventing domestic violence". The main goal of the project is to fight against gender-based violence and support the protection of human rights by expanding awareness. The main target of the project is young people. A meeting with young people was held with the participation of lawyers of the Bar Association of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ganja city No. 1. The meeting was opened by the project leader, who gave information about the project, talked about the relevance of the project and the importance of the discussions with the participation of lawyers, and stated that the youth need to be more educated and public lawyers are needed in the fight against violence. At the meeting, the head of Ganja City No. 1 Lawyers' Bureau, Jamal Aliyev, informed the participants about the reforms carried out in the Institute of Lawyers, the provision of free legal assistance to the underprivileged population, and answered the questions. Lawyers Saadat Seyidli, Tunzala Valiyeva, Rihat Mammadov, Ramil Hasanov also spoke and made interesting analyzes of the real situation and the events they represented and advised young people to learn their rights and not be indifferent to the events happening around them. Sabuhi Abbasov, the head of the Ganja Regional Center of the Ombudsman's Office, informed the young people about the Family legislation, the changes made to the Family Code, talked about the reforms in the field of law enforcement in the Republic of Azerbaijan and the current legislation, and warned the young people that they will be held responsible based on the Criminal Code in the event of complications that may occur in the future. Sabuhi Abbasov also informed about the educational activities conducted together with the NGO. The expert of the project spoke about the types of gender-based violence, the current situation in our country in this field, the legislative base, and noted that it is important that young people benefit more from the fertile legal legislation. Both experts and participants made interesting proposals at the meeting. Among them: holding meetings in a wider audience with the participation of lawyers; promotion of spiritual and moral values and family values; Recruiting volunteers for propaganda work; Applying for propaganda on this topic in the mass media, etc. Mention of the proposals in the report was brought to the attention of the meeting participants.
