December 1 - In connection with World AIDS Day, on November 29, a conference called "Be healthy, think about your future" was held in the assembly hall of Ganja Medical College with the participation of 150 students. The director of the college, Mehman Rzayev, who opened the event with an opening speech, stressed the importance of educating people to protect themselves from AIDS, regardless of their nationality, religion, race, and social status.
After speaking, Dr. Gunesh Jafarova of the Republican AIDS Center noted that hundreds of thousands of people die of this disease every year in the world according to the United Nations Joint Program on AIDS. According to G. Jafarova, Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) are not diseases that are born with a person and are not specific to him. It is an affliction that a person "earns" as a result of subsequent activities, knowingly or unknowingly caught. The doctor emphasized that drug addiction, unhealthy lifestyle, unsanitary conditions, impurity, and unprotected sexual relations play an important role in the spread of this terrible disease.
It was also noted at the conference that the pace of fighting this disease in our country is increasing day by day. Azerbaijan is strengthening its propaganda activities using all means to fight AIDS. Regular educational activities are carried out among the population, including young people who are considered the future of the society.
At the end of the meeting, the students' questions were answered.
