During his speech, President Ilham Aliyev stressed that very serious measures will be taken against officials who take bribes and embezzle state property, hurt citizens, and harm the name of the state representative:

"In today's conditions, embezzling the salaries of poor people, taking the payment cards of citizens involved in public works and withdrawing money from them, this is treason. Five of the recently arrested executive heads are accused of these evil deeds. Recent arrests also show it. Hundreds of payment cards came out of the offices of those executives, their relatives and assistants, hundreds. According to the information provided to me, 140 payment cards came out of the office of the last arrested chief executive. What is this? We give this card to those who cannot find a job for themselves. We used to give. We involved thirty thousand, forty thousand such people a year in public works - painting some building, or they served in the garden and other works. They were paid at the level of the minimum wage, 250 manats today. But the cards that will reach them are taken by the executive heads, and then the money is embezzled. Poor people also remain unemployed and free. Is this a common crime? Nope. This is treason. It has no other name. They continue to do so in the present conditions. These people have no such thing as conscience, they have completely lost their conscience. We will continue to fight mercilessly against such elements. Today, all the healthy forces of our society are united around one action, so that we can get out of this situation with few losses, protect people, and heal the sick. Let's protect doctors so that they can protect people and themselves. Therefore, taking such ugly steps in such a situation is completely unacceptable. I want to say once again that those who took these steps and committed these crimes will receive their deserved punishment," the head of state said.

Today, as a result of the vigilance of the employees of the State Security Service, the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Anti-Corruption Department, the executive heads of several districts and local executive representatives are found and brought to criminal responsibility for corruption and bribery, including misappropriation of other people's property in various ways, and embezzlement of state property. These measures are the result of the head of state's determination and uncompromising stance against such negative situations.
