On the initiative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States Ilham Aliyev, an extraordinary summit meeting of the Turkic Council was held on April 10 via video conference. Speaking at the event, the head of state expressed his gratitude to the members of the Council for supporting the initiative of meeting through video conference. Mr. Ilham Aliyev emphasized that all countries should unite and fight against the pandemic of COVID 19, which is terrorizing the whole world today. President I. Aliyev, from the first days of the pandemic, we witnessed that some countries and international organizations were confused and closed in on the coronavirus. However, an effective result can be achieved only by joining together and fighting against this terrible virus, which can knock on everyone's door. Then our head of state talked about the preventive measures taken in Azerbaijan during the pandemic, the isolation and social support measures taken, the assistance provided to people and businessmen, companies and the private sector suffering from the pandemic, and the projects implemented by Azerbaijan to overcome the horrors caused by the corona virus with minimal losses.

Mr. Ilham Aliyev emphasized that the preventive measures taken in our country, the medical conditions created for high-level examination and treatment of patients were highly appreciated by the World Health Organization.

Then the leaders of other Turkic-speaking countries also made speeches and put forward their ideas and proposals in the direction of joint fight against the pandemic. In the end, the heads of state expressed their gratitude to Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States, for the proposal to hold an emergency summit meeting through video conference in such a difficult time.
