On May 4, at the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev, a Summit meeting was held on the topic "We are together against COVID-19" dedicated to the fight against the coronavirus through a video conference in the format of the Contact Group of the Non-Aligned Movement. At this summit attended by the heads of state and government, foreign ministers, the president of the UN General Assembly, the president of the African Union, and the director general of the World Health Organization, our head of state spoke about the control of the coronavirus as a result of the flexible and adequate measures taken against the pandemic in Azerbaijan. , along with effective methods of combating and treating it, also informed about important social and economic steps for our citizens to get out of the problems caused by the pandemic with little loss, and emphasized that they are ready to share their successful experiences with any state and cooperate in this field.

At the conference, the President of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly Tijani Mohammad-Bandei, Director General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Chairman of the African Union Commission Musa Faki Mahamat, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Abdelmajid Tebbun, President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Arif Alvi, President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas and other officials of the member states of the movement made speeches. During the video conference, the main topic of discussion was the close cooperation between the eras during the pandemic, and at the same time, the consolidation of cooperation efforts in economy, trade, transport and other fields for the post-pandemic period in order to eliminate the negative effects of this disease.

Taking into account the representation of 120 countries in the Non-Aligned Movement, the Summit was held in the format of the Contact Group with the participation of countries located in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America based on the principle of geographical representation, at the initiative of the head of state Ilham Aliyev, and showed how masterfully our country has the ability to influence and direct the processes. By holding a videoconference for the first time in the history of this organization during its presidency, Azerbaijan once again proved that it brings innovations to the activities of all international organizations of which it is a member and leader, improves the work and structure of international organizations, and reveals a creative and progressive approach.
