“Today, one of the most serious challenges facing our society is drug addiction. Considered one of the major scourges of the last century, drug addiction unfortunately remains among the global problems of the 21st century. This devastating disease poses an equal threat to everyone, regardless of religion, language, race, social status, or any other factor.”

These remarks were made by the Director of Ganja Medical College of the Ministry of Health, Honored Doctor Mehman Rzayev, during a conference dedicated to combating drug addiction and the illicit trafficking of narcotic substances. He emphasized that significant efforts have been undertaken in Azerbaijan to combat drug addiction and noted that every citizen should actively participate in the fight against this “white death.”

Following his speech, other physician-instructors and students of the college spoke about the practical measures being implemented by the state to combat drug addiction.

At the end of the event, a film entitled “Say No to Drug Addiction for a Healthy Future” was screened.

The topic “Let Us Say No to Drug Addiction” was also discussed during seminars and roundtable meetings held at the college. Participants emphasized that increasing awareness among adolescents and young people about the dangers of drug addiction would significantly strengthen their resistance to such harmful habits. Most importantly, this will play a decisive role in ensuring the healthy development of both present and future generations within society.
