An event dedicated to June 26 – Armed Forces Day was held at the Ganja Medical College of the Ministry of Health. During the event, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed, and the memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of Azerbaijan was honored with a one-minute silence.

Opening the event with an introductory speech, the Director of the College, Honored Doctor Mehman Rzayev, emphasized that the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan are the main guarantor of the country's independence, sovereignty, and national security. He noted that the Azerbaijani Army’s victory in ending the 30-year occupation within 44 days in the autumn of 2020 led to the formation of a new security architecture in the region.

Other speakers highlighted that the process of building the Azerbaijani army has gone through three main historical stages. Although the establishment of the Separate Azerbaijan Corps on June 26, 1918, by the decision of the government of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was an important step in the creation of a national army, this process was halted following the fall of the republic. National Leader Heydar Aliyev played a significant role in the formation of the modern Azerbaijani Army through his purposeful and far-sighted policies, as well as his exceptional services, during both periods of his leadership of the country. The establishment of the Special Forces in 1999 was an important step aimed at enhancing the combat capability and international reputation of the Armed Forces.

At the end of the event, a documentary film entitled “The Victorious Azerbaijani Army” was screened.
