A conference entitled “June 15 – Salvation Day: A Turning Point in the History of Azerbaijan” was held at Ganja Medical College under the Ministry of Health. After the National Anthem of Azerbaijan was performed, the memory of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of our lands was honored with a minute of silence.

Opening the event with an introductory speech, the Director of the College, Honored Doctor Mehman Rzayev, emphasized that June 15, celebrated as National Salvation Day, has been written in golden letters in the modern history of Azerbaijan. It was noted that with the return of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev to power on that day, the profound socio-political crisis prevailing in Azerbaijan at the time came to an end, the threat to the country’s independence was eliminated, and the foundations of state-building and socio-economic development in the republic were established.

The speakers at the event noted that in June 1993, when Azerbaijan faced a complicated socio-political situation and a real threat of civil war, the National Leader Heydar Aliyev came to Baku at the request of the people and was elected Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Azerbaijan on June 15. Thus, a new successful stage in the modern history of Azerbaijan, which continues to this day, began.

The speakers also stressed that the period when the National Leader resumed the leadership of Azerbaijan remains in history as a time when years of tension and confrontation in the country were brought to an end, and the republic was saved from the danger of civil war and disintegration.

The event continued with the screening of the film “June 15 – From Salvation to Victory.”

At the end of the event, poems were recited and songs were performed by the students of the college.
