Conference Entitled “Rights for Everyone” Held

Within the framework of the “Human Rights Month” initiative, announced by the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan and covering the period from May 18 to June 18, an important conference entitled “Rights for Everyone” was held at the Ganja Medical College of the Ministry of Health.

The event commenced with a one-minute silence in memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of our lands, followed by the performance of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan.

Addressing the conference, the Director of the College, Honored Doctor Mehman Rzayev, spoke about the comprehensive measures implemented in recent years to protect human rights in the Republic of Azerbaijan, constitutional reforms carried out in the country, innovations in the judicial and legal system, and legislative acts aimed at strengthening the legal protection of citizens.

Mr. Rzayev also touched upon Azerbaijan’s accession to international human rights conventions, the improvement of domestic monitoring mechanisms, and increased support for public associations and civil society institutions.

Other speakers at the conference discussed the activities of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan and highlighted the projects implemented by the Ombudsman Institution since 2002 to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens.

The speakers also provided detailed information on the monitoring activities conducted by the Ombudsman, recommendations submitted to state institutions, statistics on citizens’ appeals, and achievements in cooperation with international partners.
