“One of the most terrible problems of our society today is drug addiction. Unfortunately, drug addiction, which was considered one of the disasters of the last century, continues to remain among the global problems of the 21st century. This terrible disease is equally dangerous for everyone regardless of religion, language, race, social status, and other factors.” These remarks were made by the director of the institution and Honored Doctor, Mehman Rzayev, during a conference held at the Ganja Medical College of the Ministry of Health dedicated to combating drug addiction and the illegal trafficking of narcotic substances.
He emphasized that significant work has been carried out in Azerbaijan in the fight against drug addiction and that every citizen must actively participate in combating this “white death.”
Afterwards, other physician-lecturers of the college — Gülşən Bağırova, Cəvahir Qarayevа, and Tünzalə Şəfiyeva — spoke about the practical measures implemented by the state in the fight against drug addiction.
At the end of the event, a film titled “Let’s Say No to Drug Addiction for a Healthy Future” was shown.
The topic “Let’s Say No to Drug Addiction” was also discussed during a seminar and a roundtable held at the college. It was noted that further raising awareness among adolescents and young people about combating drug addiction will significantly increase their resistance to such harmful habits. Most importantly, this will play a decisive role in ensuring that both present and future generations grow up healthy within society.
