
A series of events dedicated to the anniversary of the January 20 tragedy were held at the Ganja Medical College of the Ministry of Health on the theme “January 20 - the blood memory of our history”. In connection with this tragedy, the college teacher Shafiga Huseynova held a seminar in English, Malahat Musayeva held a round table, and Arzu Ibrahimov held an open lesson. In addition, students obtained information about January 20 through a computer in the college library.
A conference was organized in the assembly hall on January 20. The event was attended by the director of the college, Honored Doctor Mehman Rzayev, the chairman of the Ganja branch of the Karabakh Veterans Public Union Eyvaz Huseynov, his deputy Jeyhun Aliyev, as well as the faculty and student staff of the college.
First, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played. Then, the dear memory of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and our martyrs was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Opening the event with an introductory speech, the college director Mehman Rzayev said in his speech that the first political and legal assessment of the January 20 tragedy was given by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev. He emphasized that Heydar Aliyev had come to the permanent representation of Azerbaijan in Russia in those days and resolutely condemned this bloody act of the Soviet leadership and brought it to the attention of the world community. Mehman Rzayev noted that this position played an important role in making the voice of our people heard internationally.
Later, Eyvaz Huseynov, chairman of the Ganja branch of the Karabakh Veterans Public Union, said that the martyrs of January 20 left an eternal mark on the history of Azerbaijan. He emphasized that care for the families of martyrs and veterans is one of the main directions of state policy and drew attention to the importance of educating the younger generation in the spirit of these values.
Other speakers at the event also spoke about the socio-political significance of the January 20 events and stated that the memory of our martyrs will always be held high.
The event concluded with a commemorative photo being taken.
