A meeting was held with students at the Ganja Medical College of the Ministry of Health on volunteering and its promotion. At the event, Elnur Shabanzadeh, chief specialist of the Ganja regional Asan Service Center No. 2 operating under the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, noted that volunteering is widespread in our country and spoke about the work being done to expand the activities of young people in this direction. He emphasized that volunteering is a type of activity that is not prohibited by the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan and is considered to be socially beneficial and non-profitable in connection with the performance of work or the provision of services. It was noted at the meeting that real development in the field of volunteering in Azerbaijan began after the return to power of the great leader Heydar Aliyev. Therefore, the significant rise of the volunteer movement is associated with the name of our National Leader. Thus, starting from the first years of the leadership of the great leader, cooperation between the state and private sectors, civil society for the purpose of comprehensive and sustainable development has been in the spotlight. Great importance has been attached to involving people voluntarily in this process and taking advantage of their field experience.
It was noted that the decree of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev declaring 2020 the "Year of Volunteers" in our country also emphasized the state's concern for this area. Today, the contributions of volunteers to the development of our country in all areas are obvious, and volunteer youth closely participate in all major international competitions and events.
At the meeting, the youth of the college were invited to be active and join volunteer activities.
