On 22.11.2021, a seminar on "Let's protect teenagers and young people from the danger of radicalism and extremism" was held with the organization of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations (SCC) and the support of the Ganja City Executive Authority. The seminar was attended by Gunduz Ismayilov, the deputy chairman of the National Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Nahid Mammadov, the head of the department, Hasan Mammadov, the head of the department for the Ganja region, and Azer Ibrahimov, an employee of the Office of the Head of the Ganja City Executive Authority.

Gunduz Ismayilov, who opened the seminar with an introductory speech, said that the religious situation in the country is stable now, and this stability has become stronger in recent years. The measures taken both at the international level and at the national level, and the comprehensive implementation of the fight against radicalism are bearing fruit. The fight against radicalism in Azerbaijan is carried out in three directions - ideological, economic and legal. Stating that radicalism does not arise suddenly, but gradually, the deputy chairman emphasized the importance of taking preventive measures at the initial stage. He noted that when it comes to the formation of initial tendencies, superstition can be cited as an example. If there is superstition, its next stage will definitely be radicalism. For this reason, it is more important to strengthen propaganda at the ideological level.

Analyzing the religious situation in Ganja, the deputy chairman said that one of the main reasons for the emergence of radicalism is the ethnic identity of people. "The characteristics of our people are such that it is not easy to direct them to radicalism. It is impossible for radical ideas and religious thoughts, as well as radical and extremist groups to find a place in Azerbaijan. Especially in a city like Ganja, which is loyal to its national and moral values and roots," added Gunduz Ismayilov.

Nahid Mammadov, head of the department of the National Security Council, said that the national and moral values of our people are against all kinds of extremism. Islam does not accept violence and attempts to violate the freedom of others. Although religion and state are separate in our country, they have always supported each other. It is in this respect that Azerbaijan's multiculturalism is an example to the world. Nahid Mammadov urged young people to refrain from aggressive behavior and to always acquire sound knowledge.

Hasan Mammadov, the head of the Ganja region department of the National Security Council of Ukraine, spoke about the importance of educational activities in the framework of the fight against religious radicalism in Ganja. He noted that it was determined that the main victims of radicalism and extremism are young people. Taking into account this fact, special attention is paid to the involvement of pupils and students in educational events.

At the seminar, teenagers and young people were given detailed information about religious radicalism and extremism, and their questions were answered.
