Today, a conference dedicated to "October 18 Independence Restoration Day" was held at Ganja Medical College of the Ministry of Health. The event began with the singing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the commemoration of the souls of our martyrs who died for the freedom of our land with a minute of silence. Then the director of the college, Honored doctor Mehman Rzayev, looked at the history of that day and emphasized that the first official document accepted on the way to Azerbaijan's independence was on August 30, 1991. At the session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan on October 18 of the same year, the Constitutional Act "On the State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan" was unanimously adopted:

"In the first years of independence, Azerbaijan faced problems that seemed difficult to solve, and was very close to experiencing the fate of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the first independent state in the East. However, the happiness of our nation was that in such a complicated period, it had a proven leader like Heydar Aliyev, and he was no longer alone in this life-and-death battle. At such a time, the election of the great leader Heydar Aliyev as the chairman of the supreme legislative body was a very important event in the life of the country. This political return literally returned Azerbaijan to Azerbaijanis and the nation to itself," added M. Rzayev.

Then the speakers spoke about the importance of this day.

College students recited poems and sang songs. At the end, the documentary film "Our independence is forever" was shown.
